The sun-drenched, margarita-quenched, mechanically-wrenched members of the Desert Region invite all Ferrari owners and lovers to join us at what promises to be a very fun-filled event.
Because we know that most of you are type A personalities, we have a very full agenda with lots of options for drives, attractions, dining, golf, and lots more including:
•The internationally recognized Ferrari Club of America Concours d’Élégance.
•Two days of track time*.
•A competitive rally and several half, full day and overnight scenic drive options.
•A cocktail party at the spectacular Penske Racing Museum.
•A Western themed night and dinner.
•A Gala Awards Banquet.
•The Mercato di Ferrari where you can check out and buy items.
•Seminars on a variety of topics.
* Special Note about FCA 2019 track event location
As you may have heard, Bondurant Racing School recently filed for Chapter 11 restructuring. Regrettably this means they are now unlikely to complete their previously planned construction of the larger connected track in time for our annual meet in November 2019. We are currently reviewing alternatives (including two other viable road courses in the Phoenix area) and are confident of reaching an attractive solution. We anticipate announcing our chosen track facility for the annual meet no later than December 15, 2018.
Scottsdale's weather in early November ranges from the mid 70s to the mid 80s and it very rarely rains at that time of year (which is why we live here, so we can drive our cars all year round).
A major November storm
Of course, there are several other reasons to attend the 2019 International Meet:
Celebrate the first F1 win by the great Alberto Balsamico
The Le Mans win by Mario Parmigiano, Alfredo Gorgonzola and Paolo Provolone
The Targa Florio win by Luigi Mortadella and Roberto Asiago
The Mille Miglia win by Giuseppe Mascarpone and Alfonso Pecorino
By the way, your Meet organizers also manage Scottsdale Cars & Coffee (over 800 cars each month) and the annual Concours in the Hills (which attracts over 750 cars) so we know how to put on a car show!
The host hotel is the Frank Lloyd Wright styled Doubletree Resort.
With 22 acres of lush, landscaped grounds, lavish courtyards and secluded pools the Doubletree is the perfect place to relax and unwind when you’re not attending one of our many activities. We will have a secure, private parking area just for Ferrari Club members, so you won’t have a Hummer parked next to your 250 GTO. And to welcome us they have even put some Prancing Horses at the entrance.
The Doubletree is just a few minutes from Fashion Square, one of the ten largest malls in America and close to historic Old Town Scottsdale, which maintains the look and feel of an old western town, with more bars and restaurants than Vettel has wins, Kimi has drinks and Verstappen has accidents.
By the way, our Food & Beverage Chair is Rick Mazer who is also chairman of the CIA - Culinary Institute of America - so we are confident you will be well fed and lubricated.
We have some great roads through awesome and unique scenery, and we have prepared several half-day, full-day, and overnight drives to places like the Grand Canyon, spectacular Sedona, Kartchner Caverns, and the Pima Air & Space Museum. There are more than enough to keep you busy, even if you come down early or stay later, which of course we hope you do.
As a special treat Scottsdale Ferrari will host us for a cocktail party at the fabulous Penske Racing Museum which showcases an amazing collection of race cars, trophies and racing memorabilia chronicling the career of one of the most successful dynasties in all of sports. On display in the museum are cars detailing the diversity of Penske Racing including a large number of Indianapolis 500-mile race winners.
The Concours will be held on two huge flat grass soccer fields with a backdrop of mountain peaks and an easy 20-minute drive from the Doubletree. There is plenty of room to stage the cars with lots of space between them. We’ll have a large tent where lunch will be served and the Mercato will be around the perimeter.
We’ll even have a Cowboy themed cookout one evening at a very special location with numerous cowboy type activities.
Rob and I said we’d take up golf when they started putting V12’s into golf carts but as you probably know Arizona is world famous for its mountain golf courses and there are so many to choose from within a half hour drive of the resort.
There are lots of other attractions close by such as the unique Musical Instrument Museum, the Odysea Aquarium and Butterfly Wonderland, several casinos, museums, art galleries, a very unique botanical garden, desert Jeep tours and others.
Please keep an eye on this webpage.
We'll be adding much more information about our Meet in November and December.
